From the Baja Bush Pilots Website:

President Vicente Fox signs Decree - 5/18/2005

President Vicente Fox, as directed by the Mexican Congress, signs Decree making change in “Wing Tax”. The new catagories regarding the "wing tax" are as follows:

Wingspan up to 10 meters (& helicopters) NP$ 70.00

(Wingspan up to 33.3 feet)

More than 10 meters & up to 11.1 meters NP$100.00

(More than 33.3 feet & up to 36 feet)

More than 11.1 meters & up to 16.7 meters NP$150.00

(More than 36 feet & up to 55 feet)

The above is as translated by the BBP and the currency is in pesos.

Big Al, would you please list some examples of federal airports versus state airports? While I have flown around the Gulf side of Mexico and am familiar with several airports from Matamoros south, most of my flying is in the Yucatan and there you can only buy avgas at about 4 airports, all of which charge the tax. So far my Skymaster isn't on any of their lists so they take my word for the length of the wingspan and I'm always a little vague. One of these days they'll figure out that I should pay more than $100! (that's pesos, not dollars)
