O-2a Rear Alternator

When I needed one for my O-2, I cross checked the unit as the same as a 28v, 60a unit from a late 70's- early 80's vintage 172. I've got over 300 hours on it without a hitch. I beleive that it is a Kelly Aerospace unit that I got from Trade-A-Plane.

Arrow alternator..... for O-2 Belt drive...

You might give cont engine a call on the phone.. they should still have the government contract bid sheet for the O-2's... I know that the old man of cessna used to be able to pull that stuff out from memory.. but, he is gone now.. and no one will ever fill his shoes... but, cont engine should have it... did you check the TC for that year.. and see what they have...

Their were only a couple of different ones that I have seen... and it, I believe is in the engine parts manual... for the mount...

the alternator and its change is located in the cessna alternator book... D5107-13 dated march 83... you might try their... as I do believe they are the 38 or 60 amp 24 volt alternators...

C611503-0102... Alternator assembly, belt drive 60 amp 28 volt. type DOFF-10300-B is the alternator that supersedes the older type which was a C6111503-101 type C6FF=10300-N

the C611503-202... is type DOFF-10300-B also...
The C611503-0104... is for the T303's

but,... I believe that the 157213-7 is for the O-2 as it is a DOFF-1300-B
older style...

the differance is the restance of the rotor winding and the fan on most...

for the parts use the X30597A from cont engine... parts catalog their you will find the optional alternator kit... on figure 72-20-17 it says it alternator is a cont part no 649283 but, I would check it to make sure its 24 volt...

their are no old books anymore... I loaned out the TO manual for the O-2s to a guy who was going to copy it... guess what... and guess who moved... and never returned it... smile... It was given to me by a old time AF mechanic... so now all I have are the cessna manuals... to go by... guess he felt it was real important to him to keep it... for his plane... which he sold.. and the new guy doesn't know a thing about any manuals... hmmmmm...

Hope this helps... G.M> GMAs

If anyone needs the O-2 mainenance and parts books, I bought them from an outfit in Colorado. I think they advertise in Trade-a-Plane. They sell copies of the original books. The ones I got were very good quality, and are I believe the latest edition that was put out (October 1987). I also have the 1970s version of both books, but those are missing some pages. Anyway, this outfit also has the weapons delivery manual, and the maintenance cards in case anyone wants to go IRAN instead of annual.

As far as alternators for the rear, my book lists 1570213-1 as original with 1570213-4 as an alternate.

Parts

I have had the good fortune to buy parts from Don on a couple of occasions, and found him to be very responsive, and very reasonable. Most recently, we lost an oil filler cap, left off by a line man ( I don't normally let them fill the oil, and never will again), and Don got one to us very quickly.
