336 Loss of Thrust Mechanism Functionality

Have questions on 336 loss of thrust mechanism. If system was disabled or discontinued by Cessna under what authority was it disabled (FAR91-213) or something else?

If you check the original equipment list for the aircraft you'll see that the thrust indicators are standard equipment, but not required for FAA certification. The system may be disabled or removed with appropriate placarding and/or log entries.
