cargo pod

I just had a cargo pod installed at Owen Bell (Aviation Enterprises). Owen did a good job.

mine is off at the moment, but it has a breather tube extension, which I find works extremely well at keeping junk off the cargo pod. I am attaching a picture. It extends it about 24 inches from the bottom of the airplane, moving the tube end out towards the bottom of the strut. It has a bend in it, which acts much like a trap on a sink, preventing stuff from coming back in. It moves the 'exhaust' into the airstream, down the side of the plane, but in reality, I end up with very little gunk as a result of the breather tube.

You can see the line, where we have goop still on the plane, forming a seal. Normally, I would clean this off, however, I remove and replace the cargo pod on a regular basis, so having some of the sealer material there is a good thing. In any event, the line follows where the cargo pod attaches. The screws that hold the cargo pod in place also hold the clamps for the breather tube extension in place.

Okay, you are right, it does take a lot of imagination, and examination. So, it was a nice day in the neighborhood.
With the help of a couple of my neighbors, I got it traced out.

So, the hose, goes under the airplane, up next to the wheel well door, where there are lots of pipes coming out, and connects to one of those pipes. I could not get a picture of the pipe, but this is where the hose goes up into the airplane.

Now, you would think it would be simple from here, but it isn't. The pipe connects to another hose, which runs up to another pipe, before it goes through the baffles.

Now, that pipe, when it goes through the baffle, gets properly firesleeved, and goes all the way to the front of the engine, to the crankcase vent. Now, try as I could, I could not get a picture of the vent thing, so use your imagination from this point to the front of the engine. Look for a pipe, hose, like this, and go to where it terminates.
