Window seals for P model

1973 T337G, P model, SN P33700063, N3CU

This is in regards to side window seals (the windows that open). Mine need to be replaced.

What I have now are some very flattened and dried-out seals made of a foam sort of material that probably were installed after manufacture. They're very leaky and contribute to the long-standing inability to pressurize to more than 2 psi.

Recently, in TX, I saw another P model that had a different kind of window seal. This seal is roundish in cross section, maybe 3/16" diameter, and feels like a tube that has an airspace at the core. The aircraft owner said he is quite satisfied with its sealing ability. He did not know where the mechanic had obtained the seal or sealing material, as the case may be.

Does anyone know about this issue: proper seals for the windows on P models (the ones that open)? I would prefer a ready-made seal intended for a P model, as opposed to a length of material that has to but cut to the right length and formed into the right shape.

What's best and where does one get it?

Thanks.

Did you look at the parts manual? Often, you call the dealer with the book part number and he tells you it's been superseded by a new part number using a superior design. I have the parts book, so let me know if you want me to look it up.
