Elevator trim tab play

No reply yet to my other post about the alternator diode box on firewall...oh well, let me post a different issue and see if anyone has any thoughts.

Past few years I have had excessive play at the elevator trib tab....and had to replace parts and re rig. This year not overly excessive yet, but more play than mechanic thinks it should have for only a year or so on parts....anyone else had similar issues? Just suck up and fix each year, some alternate fix?
What is the play (wiggle freely) in distance you all have on your trim tabs?

I replaced parts and rebuilt mine several years ago. I remember being very concerned about the amount of play that was in the actuator but once I repaired it was fine and still is. Don Nieser has new surplus actuators. I purchased one from him but did not use it, would like to keep it so check with Don for the unit. If I remember there is no easy way to repair the actual actuator but I replaced the connecting linkage and the ball joint. It looks like you could get inside that actuator unit but don't think you can. I have photos if anyone wants to see what we did.
