Gear warning horn comes on after takeoff
Appreciate any advise. I’ve looked at some posts that are similar but didn’t find anything definitive.
1974 337G non pressurized. After takeoff when wheels up, gear warning goes off and stays on till landing. Before we replace all switches would like advise. Cleaned micro switches & ck wiring for breaks.., Thank you guys. |

Gear Warning Horn
I recently had this issue on my A model. Don't know if the G works the same way. But I have a gear warning switch on each engine throttle linkage. The switch position is adjustable so the first thing to check is that the adjustment screws have not come loose and allowed the switch to get out of adjustment.
The wires are soldered onto the switches but the ground wire is bolted to the switch mounting bracket. So it is easy to disconnect the ground wire on one of them so that you can test the other one. I disconnected the one on the front engine first since it is easier to get to. Then push to test the green gear down light with the throttles closed which will sound the gear warning horn. Then push the rear engine throttle up. If the gear warning horn goes off the rear switch is good. If it does not go off the rear switch is stuck closed. If the rear switch tests good. Then disconnect the ground wire on the rear switch, reconnect the ground wire on the front switch and repeat the gear warning test using the front engine throttle. If the gear warning horn does not go off you have now verified that the front engine gear warning switch is stuck closed. These switches are readily available new and not very expensive so they are easy to replace. These tests can also be done with an ohm meter but I prefer dong it as I described. And this is assuming that your G model is wired the same as my A model. |
