Front Exhaust Clamp

Hi Everyone

I am in need of a new front exhaust clamp that supports the muffler just above the cowl flap (1550126-1), the current clamp has broken at a weld, seems to be fairly common. For this item I would like to purchase new (not repair or buy secondhand). I have been quoted $323 for a new clamp, my question is have any of you replaced yours recently? and at a more cost effective price.

Been through a number of threads from years past and found some references, but no indication of where to purchase more cost effective clamps from.

I will be in the US week after next, ideal time to collect a few spares.

Regards
Dave

Try Don Nieser at Commodore -- 405-503-4686 or 722-4079 (nieser.02.337parts@juno.com) and Preferred Airparts -- 800-433-0814 (www.preferredairparts.com).

I know you said that you don't want to repair it, but mine failed and my mechanic improved and strengthened the original upon repair. Cost me one hours labor and it has been fine. I expect the other original one will fail first.

Hi Thanks for your advice, appologies for the late reply, currently in the US on business. I have spoken to my LAME and he is in agreeance that we should weld and strengthen the clamp. Also inspected the right hand clamp and it is fine at present. Still a long way to go on this project, so far only a few small suprises, as one expects.

Many thanks to the forum for the ongoing support.

CASA recently stated in an article on ageing aircraft in Australia, that forums such as these were invaluable to owners as we pursure our passion and keep these unique birds safely in the air.
