That 336 With Swing Out Rear Engine

Here are a couple of photos of the aircraft concerned. The rear motor and firewall section was modified in 1965 in Sydney, Australia, prior to the 336 entering service with Ansett-MAL in Papua New Guinea. I will try to obtain clearer photos of the hinges/connections asap. Enjoy, any questions???
a/c is 336-0005, VH-CMY. Currently unregistered and derelict at Coolangatta Airport in Queensland, Australia.

Dear Sir,
Just saw your pictures.
Do you know if the mod was approved by your CAA?
If so, do you know who is the owner?
Regards
James

Carried a 44 gal drum, didn't it?

G'day mate,

Didn't see you down at Archerfield... but Craig came down and got some shots.

That 336 was modified to take a 44 gal drum in the cargo compartment, wasn't it?

Cheers
Conway

PS I'll send you the press release that I'm sending to the magazines.

And then there was one

Hi all, Just heard that CMY has been rescued from the impending ashes. Well done.
My 336 is certainly the only operational 336 in Australia. I was offered CMY a few years ago for free, but decided against it due to storage problems at the time.
