Paul and Mary

Paul Rooy and Mary Lightfine are participating in the Haitian relief efforts, sponsored by Bahamas Habitat (see above).
Good luck to you both.

It may very well be true that operators in other countries need to comply with rules and regulations that are different than those in the US, but that's the way it is with a lot of things. A perfect example is the ELT change. We can't fight everybody's battles for them.

It would seem that operators outside of the US should seek their own clarification or rule changes to be afforded the same protections from these onerous "recommendations" as provided to US operators.

I would imagine that as Cessna continue across all makes and models, they will eventually hit the one model that will cause an uproar casuing a change in how other countries view the implementation of these SIDS. The 337 family is too small to bring about significant change (whihc is mroe than likely why they started here).

I for one can't wait to see the 172 operators reaction

Two points.

1. I believe that Roger's message deals with SIDs. Perhaps Larry can move it (and this one) to one of the SID threads.

2. Roger's last point, about Cessna 172 operators, suggests that there may be benefits to an even more wholesale consolidation of all these SID threads. There are now so many of them that understandably readers may be missing points made on other SID threads. Specifically, Cessna 172s are not subject to SIDs unless in Part 121 operations, a point I made on the thread entitled "AV Web SIDS Article 12-24-09", where I pointed out that the FAA's Final Rule on SIDs clearly specifies that they apply only to Part 121 operations and multiengine Part 129 and 135 operations (see http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2002/pdf/02-30111.pdf).

You can't operate a C-172 on a Part 121 certificate.

Ernie
Turns out it is really hard to move 1 message, within a thread.
The only things I can do are delete, and repost, but then it wouldn't be from me.
I did merge all the SID threads.
Back to Haiti

I heard yesterday that the medical evac flights to the US have been suspended. Anyone know more?
What about the private stuff that people like Paul and Mary are doing. They can't haul a Haitian refugee, unless that person has a passport and visa, right. I read that on one of the FAST bulletins.

On the news last night, it was stated that evac flights were suspended because no one could determine who was going to fund the medical/surgical and recovery efforts. I guess that Florida was a popular destination for the refugees, but the Governor asked the Feds for money, and some one up the line said "What?"
