Paul Sharp is an unknown quantity at this point
I called Autopilot Central and after checking S/N's on Cessna 1967 models (year of my bird), that all before a S/N in the 700's (mine is 659) used a BLIND T&B. After that they used the actual Turn Coord. that was in the panel. (For 400 model A/P's they did use the AI instead of the TC, but not for the model 300 A/P).

So mine evidently doesn't use the TC in the panel anyway. That's why the darn thing was still working (the A/P, that is) even though the panel instrument went belly up.

An exchange TC is only $580 so I might just do that.

OTOH, couldn't I just get a cheaper T&B? The only reason I need it is for legalities, anyway, and I suspect that tellsl me which way the wings are tilted just as well, doesn't it? (I bought a second AI - electric model - for any real emergency should I ever need it.)
