re fuel flow monitors

Adam

It really depends if you are intending to do a makeover on your aircraft and installing other instruments. The JPI can integrate the function and I believe EI has one out as well.

Basically the fuel sensor puts out a pulse on a fractional gpm rate. A counter converts the pulses to fuel qty. It is rather a simple instrument. The Shadin can replace the fuel flow indicator on your AC (STC) whereas it is the only one that is certified to do so.

I have it connected to the GPS but you do not need to be an eistein to mentally figure the balance of fuel or remaining flight time to distination. The only thing it does is tell me the MPG and I joke that it is better than a Hummer or a Lincoln SUV <G>. BTW I have had it reading 10.5 mpg.

I wouldn't fly without it unless you are willing to "top the tanks" on every flight.

Make sure you install the orange fireshield over the sensors! Also make sure the fuel lines are removed going to the instrument and have them capped at the fuel controller. I never did like the idea of having the fuel lines (very small) terminating on the back of the instrument panel.
